Mother Eula Booker

Mother Booker is the wife of our founder Superintendent Edward Booker. She is the mother of nine children; Ocie (Jean), Mary, Everlee, Robert (Maggie), Dorothy, and Jonnie (David). Three of her children are deceased; Eddie Jr., Flora, and one still born, the grandmother of fifteen and great-grandmother of 19.

She worked diligently by her husband’s side in the cotton fields of Kentucky and the various churches she and her husband belonged to in Chicago. Even though she wasn’t called to Pastor, she worked and was as concerned as though the call came directly from God to her.

She started in her own ministry of teaching later to become a licensed missionary. Although many tried to encourage her to go out on the field, teaching, she felt her duty was to stay home and rear her small children.

Her oldest son (Ocie) is now bishop of First Jurisdiction, Illinois and her youngest (Robert) stepped into the position of Pastor of Zion Temple after the death of her husband.

She became President of the Women’s Department, President of the Mother’s Board, and a member of the Helping Hand Ministry, in addition to being the First Lady of Zion Temple. She helped in any auxiliary that needed workers.
